Hi, i'm starting the 4e wotbs with my group. I buyed the first adventure and seems nice. I would like to run encounters from masterplan, a nice program that can be used to organize a full campaign and run encounters automagically. I find myself in the precess of entering monsters data in masterplan. It can retrieve monsters from ddi, but i have to enter manually averything else, like, for instance, the black horse mercenaries. I would like to know if someone has the monsters and npc of such adventure already done in character builder or monster builder, since i can import from those programs directly in masterplan.

Thanks!

It'd be done as a fun thing - obviously we can't sell it or anything. And maybe we won't get all the way through, or have to abridge it significantly, but I think it would be an interesting community project.

It could look quite professional if we include all the artwork we have. I'm currently having a WotBS trailer made, and that would look very good as the intro movie.

If we get a few people interested, we could designate areas to work on - start on The Scouring of Gate Pass. One person is tasked to create the NPCs, others specific locations, someone else the city framework, and so on.

Hello, I've been on the En World forums for quite some time, but this is my first actual post. Recently I purchased "The Scouring of Gate Pass" adventure module, and I find it very interesting. I was, however, disappointed that it did not come with any battle maps for the combat encounters. This is not really a big issue since I really enjoy making my own maps. Right now I'm working on a battle map for the Poison Apple Pub. If anybody is interested in collaboration or would like to see more of these maps let me know.

The attached file is battle map for the Poison Apple Pub. It is still a work in progress. If they are well received I will continue to make more of them

Hi all,

My players have decided that the recent opening of the long-closed trade route through Innenotdar forest (since it is now no longer on fire) offers an exceptional opportunity for profit. They have established the Fist of Flame Trading Company (investing a substantial portion of their prior rewards) with the goal of moving raw materials and food into the beseiged city of Gate Pass from Dassen, possibly involving the craftmanship of the Dwarves of Diamond Wall (from WOTBS #1 Scouring, page 24). They sought out Lord Ragos, who was very interested in the potential for profit for his beleagured duchy (troubled by the aftermath of the rampage of the air elemental unleashed by the sorcerer Lsi Pu (Pilus) and burdened by Rasasian refugees).

I intend to re-route some the the treasure packets from Shelter from the Storm to them as profits from their mercantile venture. Problems I see with their plan include actions of the invading Ragasian Army, brigand raids from the White Wyrms in Dassen, possibly conflict with the Shahalesti, and embezzlement from their new business partners.

Any thoughts on how this might play out?

There are several ways you can get your hands on the War of the Burning Sky campaign saga. You should choose the method which fits your budget and schedule best!

Be careful you check which edition you're buying! WotBS is available for 3.5 and 4E, and the adventures are different in each edition.

Grab an EN World community supporter subscription. This costs $3 per month, and you'll get access to BOTH the 4E and 3.5 versions of the saga in PDF format with each being released on a roughly bi-monthly basis. Note that these releases lag behind the individual releases by a few months.

Buy them individually in PDF format. This is the quickest way to get them, but is more expensive than the EN World subscription. The adventures cost $6.99 each. There are currently all 12 adventures available for D&D 3.5, and the 4E versions are being released over the next year or so.

Buy them individually in softcover format. There are currently all 12 adventures available for D&D 3.5, and the 4E versions are being released over the next year or so.

For D&D 3.5 only, buy the very expensive but remarkably gorgeous 708-page hardcover compilation, or the not as expensive but still gorgeous 640-page black-and-white hardcover.

Note that there are a couple of legacy subscription options (i.e. methods of subscription which are no longer available). These are the RPGNow subscription and the direct EN World WotBS subscription. Those who originally subscribed via one of these two methods will still continue to receive the products at the same time as they are released for individual sale (i.e. ahead of EN World community supporter subscribers).

Tired, cold, sore, and directionless, Rantle spent nearly an hour drifting in the crowds of Gate Pass, a press of bodies wilder and more packed than even the greatest turn-outs during the new year’s festival. He saw city soldiers trampling people under wagons as they tried to go the wall to fight back the Ragesians. More than once he passed a family carrying a burnt loved one, dying or dead, the healing houses already too full to admit any more. Some frightened soldiers were trying to press through the crowds to retrieve what healers they could and get them to the walls, while distraught fathers and husbands brawled with them when they tried to leave without healing their children and wives.

He stepped over several corpses in the street, and even if the crowd behind him had let him take the time to move them, he wasn’t sure he would have cared enough. He had just left the closest thing he had known to a family, and it seemed like fortune was mocking him by having brought him so close to the ones he needed to go with – Torrent, the jispin man, and the frightened woman – who by now could be anywhere. Rantle had no idea how to find a group of three people out of the thousands in Gate Pass, and if he did not find them before tomorrow he suspected they would already be outside the city.

There was no route Rantle knew of southward that would not take him through enemy territory, either west through the lines of the Ragesian armies, or east into Shahalesti, which would likely get him captured as a spy, since he looked Ragesian. He could only guess Torrent knew a route through the mountains, but if Rantle had to follow on his own he imagined he would end up freezing to death at the side of some snow-filled mountain road.

As it was, after an hour of aimless wandering, the flights of dractyls stopped, the crowds began to disperse, and Rantle found a dark, looted tailor shop to rest in. A dozen other people, either displaced or too cold and tired to go back to their own homes, huddled inside with him, sharing the warmth of a small hearth which barely managed to win against the chill draft coming through the door looters had smashed open.

For the first half hour people sat together silently, until one man began plucking away a five-beat couster song on a broken guitar. Rantle and a few others recognized the song and began humming or tapping beats along with it. It felt good to help, even for something as sad as this old war song.

Today I begun running The Indomitable Fire Forest of Innenotdar (I loooove spelling it all) to one of my groups.

In the first encounter I wasn't totally sure about how I handled it.
Is it as simple as putting the fire out of Durval and that's it? He's alive?
Wasn't he an undead?
What if he leaves the forest and outside the sphere of influence of Indomitable?

After that, we begun An Unnatural Hunt.
I modified the encounter as follows:
Made both bats Elites. Just duplicated their hitpoints, and added a second attack in it's Flyby Attack.
Also, I corrected it's AC to 20, the one corresponding to a level 6 skirmisher.
I dropped the Claw attack.
Modified the Bite attack as: +11 vs AC, 1d10 + 4 damage + 1d6 fire damage
Because that way it makes sense that the bat attacks and damages the goblin. And it also doesn't make the bat's attack totally worthless against fire protected creatures.
Also, the added damage scales well with the character's hitpoints.

Of course, this makes the encounter harder.

Another modification I made was to the Endurance checks to withstand the forest fire.
As it was, at DC 26, it is extremely difficult for a character to succeed at the check and a total of 7 to 9 healing surges could be spent a day (3 per 8 hour period and 3 to 4 more because of encounters).
The problem with this is that it doesn't makes much difference if you have Endurance or not, your chances are very small.
I changed it so that if you have lots of healing surges and a good Endurance bonus, you can risk going through the forest without taking potions.
This, in turn, will give the party more margin with the potion problem.

The change:

Endurance check DC 18 for every 3 hours exposed to the fire forest.
Success: You endure the fire forest.
Failure: You loose a Healing Surge.

This mechanic is made so a typical trained PC, with a +7 Endurance bonus, will loose between 2 to 4 healing surges a day.
Enough to make a difference and to make it worth a try.
It also rewards the characters if they find and use a sheltered place to rest in.

Another change was to the hazards.

The grass would deal 1d6 if you enter a square with this hazard. Maximum 1 per round.

Given that, it seems strange that a burning bush would posibbly deal less than this damage.

So I changed it to:
1d6 if you enter a burning bush square.
+4 vs Reflex. Hit: 5 ongoing damage.

That way, it's ALWAYS worse to enter a burning bush than burning grass.

I haven't dealt with the smoke and cinders yet.

PD: Flaming/Burning Brush? Shouldn't it be a Flaming/Burning Bush/Shrub?

Are there any regional maps of the area other then the ones that came with the Player's Guide?
Many thanks in advance.
